I'm gonna have to say go with a head gasket spacer.... it works really well with VR6's... As the bottom end is already very stout, and with a HG it'll allow you to have a larger margin of error when it comes to fuel.
A VR6 with a larger HG, and at least a T4 turbo will make 400 WHP no problem... even more but then you'll probably want to go with a standalone ECU for tuning.
Although I have a buddy that is running a compleatly stock VR6 w/ a T4 @ 6psi, and he was around the 300 WHP mark with a custom dyno tuned ECU chip you're still better off going with a HG spacer.
Bang for buck is going with a HG spacer.... and if you want to run serious boost and make 500+ WHP you "should" spend the money on internals.
