You DO realize the HIGHWAY cameras are there to watch traffic, not the airport..
the highway cams wouldn't have caught it due to zero visibility. My boss noticed a fire and we were like WTF is that?? It can't be a plane. It was raining so hard that we couldn't be sure if it was on the runway or a lightning striking hydro boxes or what.
I called my GF who works for a Airline and all she said that Air France slid off the runway and then we though shit man, could it really be?? And low and behold when the rain let up we see this huge cloud of smoke and all these emrgency vehicles.
It was freaky to see this well before the media was all over it.
It's amazing there was no fatalities. Thank goodness for that.
