I've been saying this since the Harold Ballard days. The only way we will get a team that will win the Cup is if the fans stop buying tickets. There is no economic reason for the Leaf Management to do anything different because the AC centre is sold out every time. As long as they get to the 1st/2nd round each year there's no real reason for the Leaf brass to spend any more money on superstar players. Sports is still a business and they are in it to make money, which is what they are doing.

Imagine that, a city where the fans still shell out big $$ for tickets to see mediocre team on a consistent basis. I'm sure all the other NHL temas are jealous and wish they could have a market like Toronto where the arena could sell out no matter how shitty the team is.

Hell yeah. I'm a habs fan, and Montreal fans don't go unless the teams winning. Toronto fans are so used to failure, that they don't know anything else. Shit they haven't even made it to the Cup finals since the 60's. Montreal has 10 cups since then, and their fans don't go because they've had a few shitty years. Well O.K. since 93.

You just said there is sooooo true. The leafs management could put 6 no name players out on the ice and still sell out!!!!!!!! Why spend the money if you don't have too??? I am a leafs fan but I have come to gribs with the reality that they prolly won't win a cup in my life time.!!!!!!

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!
