I've been saying this since the Harold Ballard days. The only way we will get a team that will win the Cup is if the fans stop buying tickets. There is no economic reason for the Leaf Management to do anything different because the AC centre is sold out every time. As long as they get to the 1st/2nd round each year there's no real reason for the Leaf brass to spend any more money on superstar players. Sports is still a business and they are in it to make money, which is what they are doing.
Imagine that, a city where the fans still shell out big $$ for tickets to see mediocre team on a consistent basis. I'm sure all the other NHL temas are jealous and wish they could have a market like Toronto where the arena could sell out no matter how shitty the team is.
