I had a race car and let me tell you, if you are not prepared to spend money....and LOTS of it, don't do it. Unless you have sponsors to support your program financially, you'll be hurting (unless your rich). You have to cope with so many things such as breakage (and you WILL break parts/motors etc).
Not to mention it's ALOT of work and you need help from others because you CANNOT do it all yourself. (i.e. help at the track with wrenching etc)
Here's a pic of my former race car below after I just got it painted. (some of you may have seen it before. Protech bought it from me a few years ago and is the current owner if I'm not mistaken). I can tell you that I DO NOT miss it one bit. I much prefer a fast street car than a drag car. Street cars are more fun IMO.
But as said above by 1.5dx2go, only if I had an endless budget would I build a race car and drive the living shit out of it not having to worry about breaking shit.
