Eggum Racing Las Vegas Press Release
| Quote: |
September 14th, 2005
Debuting the newly rebuilt Honda Civic at Moroso Raceway, with four consecutive passes dropping et’s from 9.40 to 9.04. Continuing on to Atco Raceway, with a repeat of quicker et’s from 9.00 to 8.85 including a 2nd place finish in the Pro FWD class. And finally scoring a new low et of 8.74 @ 175mph at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, September 10th. We were #3 qualifier in the Hot Rod class and finished the race in the #3 position after racing Ron Lummus in the semi-finals. An amazing race for both teams, my 8.74 to his 7.90, congratulations to Ron and everyone on the Garret Racing Team. The 8.74 pass also gave me the new title of Fastest female driver in Hot Rod class history!
Seat time and confidence in my new car and team kept me on my game in the driver’s seat with reaction times of .155, .115, .110 and .098 and the car’s times of 8.94, 8.84, 8.80 and 8.74 rounded off the weekends success. We’ve finally stepped outside of Venom’s shadow, the previous owner of the car and are that much closer to one of the season’s goals of going quicker than 8.65, without the use of nitrous, using a turbo legal for the ‘05 season (we use a 70mm), without an aftermarket transmission and most importantly without breaking parts every pass to do so. We have three events and numerous test sessions, over 40 passes on this transmission alone (honest!) which still has the stock gears & syncro‘s. The result of racing smart on a non existent budget and three months completely rebuilding the car, leaving only half the original cage (due to back-halfing the car) as a reminder of it’s previous racing days.
We’ll be racing at our hometown track, Chicago’s Route 66 Raceway, for the Battle of the Imports event September 17 -18th. Then on the road again for the remaining five events of the year in Florida, New Jersey, Florida again, Ohio and California.
