[Drag News] Jason Hunt and Brian Ballard get new cars

Matco Tools, BRUT and GM Racing Team Up with CSI to Get It Done
(3-01-2006)- CSI Drag racing is growing. They are taking on two brand new cars for competition at the beginning of the season and have two more slated to enter competition mid year. Returning NDRA Champions Jason Hunt will be driving the 2006 Matco Tools/BRUT/GM Racing Chevy Cobalt in PRO Outlaw FWD and 2X champ, Brian Ballard will debut an additional new Cobalt in the Turbo Street wars.
MATCO TOOLS is in for the second season of title sponsorship in the sport compact ranks. They are also determined to support the team for a second championship with Jason.
The hot new paint scheme this year mirrors that of NHRA Funny Car standout Whit Bazemore. “We wanted to deliver more synergy of the teams and build recognition. The response from the MATCO TOOLS distributors has been overwhelming and we are sure that the students that the CSI team stops to visit during the year will be thrilled. We noticed an elevated level of involvement from the students after each visit the team went to when they changed to an all MATCO TOOLS car last year and we wanted to further develop our Votech program” stated John Torok, Motorsports Manager, MATCO TOOLS. The team will again be visiting Vocations Education centers and colleges throughout the country prior to their race weekends. The team has dubbed this year as “The Hard Work and Determination Tour”.
Also joining CSI this year is BRUT, The Essence of Man cologne and shower products. This is great partnership as it again compliments the NHRA POWERade program already in place. BRUT will not be an idle sponsorship they have already worked on joint marketing efforts with MATCO TOOLS and GM Racing.
To complete the fairy tale of this team for 2006 are the new cars, engines and support they will be receiving from GM Racing. As part of their overall marketing plan to expand their involvement with sport compact racing and get away from the factory run teams, GM Racing has tapped in to the talents of CSI.
“Charlie Schafer, Jason Hunt and Brian Ballard along with the rest of the team proved they had what we required of a team to run cars of this caliber. They are motivated racers who were able to overcome great odds mid season with out losing their stride. To accomplish two championships and achieve personal bests with the equipment we provided them last year only proves that they are more than capable of a repeat performance. We are looking for two more championships this year and we believe CSI will be able to deliver,” said Carmen Smith, Sport Compact Manager, GM Racing
