GLENDORA, Calif. - Torco Racing Fuels, a leading manufacturer of high performance fuels, has signed a multi-year agreement with NHRA to become the title sponsor of an NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at Virginia Motorsports Park near Richmond, Va.

The inaugural Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals, Oct. 6-8, 2006, is the 21st of 23 events in the $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The event, which will be televised by ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD, will be a critical race for NHRA teams in contention for POWERade Series world championship titles.

"We are very proud to be affiliated with the sport and sponsor the first NHRA national event back in Virginia," said Evan Knoll, president, Torco Racing Fuels. "The East Coast is a great market for us. We look forward to sponsoring an event at the beautiful Virginia facility and plan to be involved in NHRA for many years to come."

The Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals also will be the last chance for Top Fuel teams to earn points to qualify for the 22nd annual Budweiser Shootout at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a lucrative all-star race-within-a-race that showcases eight of the best-performing Top Fuel teams in the POWERade Series.

The event sponsorship increases Torco Racing Fuels' involvement in NHRA, as the company also sponsors the Top Fuel dragster driven by current NHRA POWERade Series points leader Melanie Troxel, as well as Top Fuel rookie J.R. Todd, Funny Car driver Mike Ashley and young Pro Stock talent Dave Connolly.

"Torco has increased its support of NHRA POWERade Series Drag Racing significantly in recent years through primary sponsorship of a number of competitive NHRA race teams," said John Siragusa, senior director, sales and new business development, NHRA. "We are happy that Torco has decided to become the title sponsor of what promises to be an exciting NHRA POWERade Series event at Virginia Motorsports Park."

NHRA previously held national events at the Virginia track from 1995 through 2000.
