PAUL EFANTIS SUSPENDED and MSP PLACED ON PROBATION!!!!
I believe MSP is protesting the turbo restrictions in HNRA. Paul lined up with the larger (illegal) turbos anyways and staged.

NHRA officials have announced that Paul Efantis, the current points
leader in the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series Modified Class, has been suspended for the next three events due to conduct detrimental to the sport of drag racing.
Efantis, who drives the MSP Lucas Oil Toyota Solara, has been suspended from the next three events beginning with the NHRA Las Vegas Sport Compact Nationals, Sept. 9-10, followed by the NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals in Englishtown, N.J. (Oct. 1-2), and the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals in Pomona, Calif. (Oct. 22-23). Upon return to competition, Efantis will be placed on one year probation commencing on the date of his first race in the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series. Efantis’ class lead over Justin Humphreys is 193 points.
In addition, MSP was placed on probation for one year after an incident that took place during the Mopar Mountain Madness NHRA Sport Compact Nationals held in June at Bandimere Raceway in Denver. The suspension ends June 15, 2006.
Both Efantis and MSP were sent letters informing them of NHRA’s actions and both suspensions can be appealed as outlined in the 2005 NHRA Sport Compact Rulebook

Yes were are done with NHRA they deffinetly wont let the modified class be what it should be .. If you look at class advancement over the last four years we have followed right with pro keeping about the same distance. I wish NHRA spent a week at my shop and could see that 90% of all supras on the street run bigger than a 66mm single or 52mm twins. Keeping things tight and sending a class back 5 years is two different stories I and Justin Tested these 52mm turbos and nearly spent 6000.000 dollars a peice on turbos piping , testing etc and only to find that the will only produce 27 lbs of boost WOW we were down 22mph in the 1/8th and ran 7.90 @175 BORING . Like I said I didnt build this car to run 7.90s when I built my car the record was 7.66 who wants to spend 100,000.00 to run slower than the record the year before NOT I . So in the end NHRA dose not give two shits about it and Me and Justin have already wraped up 1st and 2nd so were siting out NHRA the rest of the Year. I do encurage anyone to build a modified car it is by far one of the best classes out there and everthing that I or Justin have is avalible to anyone else also the class should run between 7.10 to 7.30 NOPI dose plan on leaving the rules alone for a while to encurage people to build a car to come out and Kick Mine , Justin , or Brents ass . It deffinetly can be done with the right chassis and any power plant on the market right Now would be capible of being competive If u have the will and desire to go FAST and Thats what we have been so sevely punished for!!
It's the only way they can defeat the 2jz. Keep them off the track....

I have been asked by MSP Racing to put to rest all the rumors regarding Paul Efantis's suspension. Please know that during the course of the past several years in the Modified class the rules have been changed to slow down the six cylinder cars in the class and allow the four cylinder and rotary vehicles to catch up. MSP Racing has always complied with the rule changes. Mid-season this year the rules had another change that now restricted the turbo size on the six cylinders. NHRA and NDRA both made the same rule change. This was a significant MID SEASON rule change that cost both MSP Racing and Race-Redi almost $20,000.00 dollars between the purchase (MSP has a turbo sponsor but they were not able to supply the turbos in such a short notice) of new turbos, piping, related components and man hours. Granted the rule change was done by consulting manufacturers but NOT with any physical testing on vehicles. Both teams verbally stated their frustration and opposition to the changes. NDRA was willing to use physical testing to show that the changes were not going to garner them the results they were looking for. They later reversed their decision. NHRA was not willing to allow the Moroso race a test bed for the changes and stated they were not going to even consider a change back until the end of the year. The ultimate results were blown turbos on every pass, limited and much delayed launch boost and extremely limited maximum boost. Both the Florida and Las Vegas race had the Hot Rod class out qualifying the Modified class.
Admist the frustration in Florida, Paul was also tuning a customer's street car and had made two passes previous when NHRA tech officials deemed him not eligible to make passes in this car, this was an over sight by the car owner when registering the vehicle. This did not sit well with the powers that be. Later that evening there were vehicles parked at the end of the MSP pit space and Paul was asked to tell them to move. Paul did not know these car owners and apparently made a derogatory remark that was later cleared up between him and the official.
At no point during the race did Paul line the car up with illegal turbos, in fact he spent most of the night welding on a car that was to be his first round competitor, who in fact was utilizing illiegal turbos but Paul did not bring this to attention of NHRA. He let it go, it was missed in tech, as a matter of fact the only two cars that had turbos measured were his and Justin's.
Ten days later, Paul received a letter from NHRA stating he had been suspended by NHRA Sport Compact for the remaining three races and not allowed to attend the awards banquet. The letter was received as the MSP team owners were leaving for the US Nationals. During the US Nationals a meeting was arranged to discuss the suspension. All parties left the meeting with an understanding of circumstances.
As for the probation from the CO race. Two other teams were involved in the situation, Race-Redi and Titan. There was no fist fighting involved, just liquid courage (alcohol) by a member of another team. All three teams were warned about unsportsman like conduct and placed on probation for a year. To our knowledge, Greek Efantis was the only owner at the time to personally apologize to the track owner before leaving the event for any inconvenience they may have caused.
MSP racing was a surprised by the posting on NHRAsportcompact.com as many of you. The word detriment in the Webster's English dictionary is " a cause of damage or injury". At no point did Paul cause damage or injury to the sport of drag racing unless him cheering" Go NOPI" during the FLorida race is deemed a threat. At this point the team has no desire to appeal the decision and is supported by their sponsor.
Paul Efantis has had a banner year, he is considered one of the winningest drivers in NHRA Sport Compact in just two years and currently holds the points lead. He is also in a serious points battle in NDRA for the championship.
