yeah kens rabbit has some serious traction issues too, and hes had some real bad luck with trannes too, but i guess ihs new one should be alot stronger. he atually blew out thrid gear one of the times w raced, we went from a roll because neithr of us wanted to puke a tranny by going from a dig, second gear roll on, we're pretty well dead even, i edged him by a hair and then went for tihrd, he went for third ad all you hear is this snap, im like shit, luckily he was able to gte it home. i guess now hes got somethig alot stronger in there so we'll see what happens with it all, but there should be some fun cars out my way this year if all goes well
Wait a second, I just solved a mystery, I think the Ken you are referring to is Rabbitman.
No I don't know anyone with a turbo cavalier.
I actually never broke a tranny in the rabbit. But I just did exactly the same thing as him in my VR6 GTI a few weeks ago. I was down in Sarnia to check it out, and took it for a little run on the 402. I got on at the bridge, and heading towards Christina street, I got on it hard in 2nd, squealed them in third, and then when the boost built up, DESTROYED 3rd gear. I managed to shove it into 4th, and that's how it sits now. With no 3rd gear, and well, no tranny. That was got to be one of the worst sounds ever. Crunch, grind, rattle, shit I thought I was driving my old diesel rabbit for a minute. lol.
Yeah T04. Might be a little much for the tranny. Going to need something stronger. I cleaned up the heads myself, but they really should be Ported. I just removed some material to match the gaskets and manifolds. It's got new cams, 286/290, and that's pretty much it for now. Stock management, and Neuspeed injectors. Pulls pretty hard. Although it looks like it might end up for sale. Not sure what's going on for sure, but one car might have to go.
yeah cayuga sounds good. think ken was saying something baout using the guts from a corrado tranny? maye i understood him wrong, hopefully it lives for a while, wouldnt mind seing him run down the track in the tractionless bunny
Tell him that I used a stock 93 Passat tranny on my 2l 16v for 4 years with no breakage, except for a clutch, and MANY rear tranny mounts. He'll laugh at the rear tranny mounts. I'm sure he's replaced a few.
