as of today (pending what happens tonight in tha' ghetto) there have been THIRTY ONE gun murders in Toronto, and there is no "ERASE" program for guns. Kids driving fast off of red lights is still the big issue. They should thank us for spending our time and money on cars instead of guns and drugs. Its just stupid. Build a track in the GTA and worry about the gun issues while all us "evil youth" are safely racing away in a controlled environment.
Well Brian now I'm in your face. You work for oh never mind. When dumb ass kids get guns, shit is gonna happen. It was only a matter of time for Toronto. At least it's not as bad as Detroit yet.
I can totally see you point tho.. As of yet, i have heard nothing about gun control..
For example, i watched the news, i hear about someone getting shot in one segmant, no arrests made.. And then i hear of how car enthusiests are being pulled off the road.. And so.. just a basic example..
Sure, take it to the track some say.. on the streets, we all have our fun sometimes..
People are getting away with murder while a cop sits in his car writting a ticket cause the guy he pulled over had blue lights on his car.. or whatever.. Cops take their time, looking under a car for a cat converter while someone gets shot.. Better priorites could be made.

discuss...
thats a pretty ignorant statement.
first of all the toronto police service is not involved in the erase program.
second of all the toronto police service has the guns and gangs task force which works those type of people.
so basically toronto police are going after the gun crimes, not the modified cars.'
care to change your post now that you know the truth?
and we see how affective the major crime units are being at handling these shootings...
point is public is SCARED to assist police in the arrest of murderers, because they fear for their own lives. However, ratting on some 16 year old with a b16 and fart can just makes them tingle inside.
Lets not forget the police themselves are scared to head into some of those areas, ie: Metro Toronto Housing.....
I do think the police focus a bit too much on sticker placement on windows, blue valve stem lights, dvd decks veiwable by driver etc etc. There are definatly some chicken shit fines/charges laid by officers.
But again, their hands become tied when people start crying "racial profiling"
So whatever, let these people keep shooting eachother.
i think people that think the police can stop crime are just fooling themselves. someone getting angry and grabbing a gun and shooting someone is unstoppable.
unless everyone had a cop at their side, its impossible for the police to be proactive in stopping an individual's crimes.
and we shoudlnt expect them to.
again a cop doing traffic duty is not going to be investigating a gang call anyways, so why does it matter if someone gets shot while another cop is handing out a ticket. its very ignorant to assume that one has something to do with the other.
there will never be a way to remove all handguns from criminals, so its going to happen regardless. all the police can and will ever be able to do is try to catch the people that did it.
but complaining that the police arent doing enough to stop crime before it happens is retarded. how do you expect them to do that? did YOU know the guy was about to get shot? why didnt YOU call the cops to help them out....
police officers are all sworn the same, so be it if handing out a ticket, or arresting a gang member, that is their job. Profiling young males for having nice cars is NO different than black males being profiled in Rexdale or wherever, it's all wrong.

I have a problem with getting some BS ticket for tint when the car came from the dealere like that. Affecting my insurance rates for however long.... while animals like Homolka walk the streets again, the system is failing. /rant
the community has a responsibility to assist in stopping these crimes. If people don’t talk and assist police in their investigations, some criminals will get away when they could have been caught.
How is it impossible for the police to be proactive? Any time an officers detains and arrests someone for a crime, that’s being proactive. Walking the beat, proactive, hiring more officers...proactive. And of course, enforcing the law while off duty, proactive.
You’re right, there will always be handguns and bad guys. There will always be cops that give out tickets for silly infractions. And until the people speak up and media gets on it, it will stay the same way.
Shooters get away while 6 alleged street racers detained at Tim Hortons.

With what you said about the community assisting, I agree. Infact, the other night on global they had a brother of a shooting victim on (they were from the Jane-Finch area). He even said he wouldn't tell police anything if he even KNEW who it was. The police can only do so much but I think you may start to see a shift in what they will go after.
