Free Mods.

I have noticed that a few online forums list free mods for the car or cars that the site is dedicated to. I was wondering what free mods you have done and what car you own. Also did this mod help the performance. Thanks to anyone who contributes.

I zip-tied my IACT sensor to my upper rad hose so it reads a bit hotter and leans out my AFR.... saturns run too rich stock and will actually gain a bit of power with this mod.
The real solution is to get a SAFC though, or still ghetto, but wire resistors inline with the MAP and wire another 1 or 2 IACT's in parallel with the stock one, that way the engine will run leaner (ala resistors inline with MAP), but the timing will get affected in a positive way because of the IACT's.

Rabbit CIS intake system air box can have the bottom almost completely cut out to gain a few horsepower. Sounds good too. Especially with a K&N air filter. Also works with most cars, as long as you don't make holes after the filter, obviously.
Free tip: You can make an emergency alternator/waterpump belt out of cable ties. I've done this, and it worked for 100+kms till I got home. If you're gf is with you or you're female, or just weird, pantyhose will do this too. Just rip out the waist strip, and tie it so that there is little slack, and go to the parts store.
Another one for any modded rabbit owners: Aftermarket/Stronger rear tranny mounts are a waste of money. You'll break them just as easily as the OE ones. And if you try and weld the two peices together, so that there is no rubber mount, you cannot have a cd player in the car. It will not play. Try it if you want. Might be ok with a newer one. But my panasonic wouldn't play until I put a regular mount back in. Also, DON'T try and drive a rabbit with the rear tranny mount broken. It will bend the hell out of the front mount, and may break the starter bolts. Again, trust me, I've done it.
NEVER go anywhere without duct tape, cable ties, and a spare belt. Or condoms just in case.
