Cats on a 1977.

Car was originally 6 cyl with a cat. Hasnt been a cat on it since converted to v8 in 85 or 86 .I can probably get it certed without cats . Anyone know any of the rulings on something this old . Or just go with punched out ones and be safe??. I want to up grade to 3 inch pipes but not this year. So , I didnt really want to have to deal with cats For this yr only. Ins co,s want a safety and appraisal , before re in suring it . Bastards..77.

Yeah . Knowing my luck I,ll be the one getting busted by the pigs on the road to TMP. Tommorow I,m heading over to a local wreckers and scope out some cats . I hear the ones with hardly any guts left are cheeeeeper..77.

This is true. Just because a car does not qualify for emission test does not mean pollution equipment can be removed.

well i got a legit safety on a car that didn't have a cat. it was my jeep. the guy said the car doesn't even need a motor in it to pass safety. I also had a buddy pass his car and it was in the middle of being put together, and it didn't even have the exhaust on yet.

I,ve owned the car since 1985 , it needs cats too safety. I gotta safety it cause of the age ins co wants a cert and appraisal.
I ended up getting a deal on apair of oval style ones with a 3 inch in and out pipe . So I put 14 inch extenders on the back of my headers , then the cats . Then adapters down to 2 1/2 inch pipes . The car has always had mufflers and t pipes on it .
I got away one time at cayuga . I got caught in a 5 car row of ricers and the whole line of us got pulled over . I go to the cop , with the sad puppy my car is really old look , Me Too ??, face . Yup , get in line . My car could,ve come with 3 different v8,s and a whole buncha different exhaust systems . But was originally a 6 cyl car . So, after 15 minutes of headscratchin , the guy comes over and says go to the races today. But we get you again your gettin a fistful of tickets . I,m thinking the third time I,m jacked up by mto /cops its gonna be ticket time . ..77.
