Exclamation B20R frankensteiner

i've seen some cars and videos with cars that have the B20 vtec/R frankensteiner and i would like to know what the advantages of having a ITR head with a B20 block over just having an ITR motor. i have checked engine specs for both and they both have around the same amount of torque ,ITR 195hp 133lbs/ft torque,B20 144hp 134lbs/ft torque. So if any body can give me some info on this i would really apreciate it. thanks

Im actually looking into the B20/Type R setup myself. What I have learned is: B20/R is cheaper to build than buying a type R, smaller displacement and weight BUT very comparable to Type R eng, overall best bang-buck set up.

I know that a lot of guys in the states run the B20r set up. Im currently researching what mods or eng build approach get u reliable strong hp from this setup. I'll keep you posted.

Also, I think the best benefit is that it weighs less than the h22 and, i believe, just slightly lighter than the type r eng. Were not talking tons of weight but if your dropping it into a civic shell, EVERY POUND MATTERS.

b20 r has slightly more weight but not by much the block isnt the same as the b16a/b and like the b17a and b18a/b/c it has a higher deck height similar to the b16b and the TYPIE i believe it 89 mm x 84 mm to achieve that stock in a b20 yet to do so would require sleeving the smaller b series motors tho the b20 has to be drilled for the oil lines and i reccommend new bearings and seals along with knifing and balancing the crank while your at it...thing is you get the cubes for less that all the shit needed to get a smaller b there...i say you run pr3 oversized pistons stock bottom end and stock top end R to 9000 k i say 200 whp and 150 ish wtq is achievable easy but to make that power useful run a nice JDM TYPE R LSD TRANNY WITH a nice 4.785 final drive

you cant use any other factory pistons in a b20 the bore is too big, you cant use any b18 or b16 pistons
