Putting air ride in?????

So there a disadvantages to having air ride.
I just want to know if its worth putting it in.
Sure its great to be able to change your ride height with a click of a switch, but i guess you need to power up a compressor to be able to get the air right?
SO putting a compressor somewhere on your motor will more then likely steal horsepower and probably hurt your gas millage a little more.. I can't see it being any different to running your compressor for your AC.
These are the only 2 i thought of cause someone told me it would kill my speed.

Anyone have anything to add?

you can have reserve tanks that hold air so you dont have to run the compressor all the time....you can also have eletric driven compressor, or you can go the new route people are taking and thats nitogen tanks with 1/2 inch lines it makes it fast....but if this is goin in a car if you wanna save some money look into air cylinders

Ive seen alot of nice hot rods with big power plants run the air bag setup. Ive read somewhere that handling is equal or better to factory. Air ride is kinda cool too depending on what kinda car you put it on.
