Computer Q

I was looking around my folders today, and went into the 'WINDOWS' folder, and found all these.

What are they? Can they just be deleted? I didn't select them or anything, they are all that color all the time. You can see the enxt row is a different color.

Hidden files.
Generally you don't want to get rid of those without knowing what they do.

Best bet is to get rid of all your pr0n if you're worried about space.

Right click on one of them, and go to properties. Check the date created. If it's different from when you installed the Windows OS, I would delete them. The other option, if you have the windows disk, is to do a reinstall of windows. I have XP Service pack2, and if I find crap like that all over the place, I just throw in the disk, and have it do a repair. It will remove anything that is not a windows OS file, but will leave all your programs and settings. Great feature, probably one of the smartest things that microsoft did.

Not worried about space. Just found them and wasn't sure what they were.

Yeah then I would be careful about removing them, unless you have the original Windows disk. I checked mine though, and I only have on of those folders, with exactly the same name, and colour. Check the contents, and if they are all the same, Delete all but one. I know this might take a while, but it'll free up alot of space. I think that folder on my computer was like 6 meg. So if they are all 6 meg....

Some are 1, some are 5, etc.

I think they're Microsoft service packs. Not sure why they're like that thoug. Maybe I install them, then my antivirus takes them out. Hmm...

edit: wow. i found one that's 300 mb's..
