Why do you want to repair it?

Format then reinstall..done.

I'm assuming it's a spyware issue. Hey Deep, try running MSConfig via the "Start---Run---- Type MSConfig" go to "Startup" uncheck EVERYTHING on startup... see if that's better.

thanks mark, i'll give that a shot..i used spybot to check the startup config, i olny have 3 things running on startup..i think its a registry issue because 1)my brother uses this computer as well, 2)he is totally computer stupid, he sees popup's and clicks on them, etc. 3) he instals programs and deletes them instead of uninstalling. ive tries numberous good quality programs and they all tell me my resitry has alot of invalid links, im thinking mainly unused folders from the incorrectly uninstalled programs...format/reinstall isnt an option at this point, there is stuff on this pc that is important, dont have the cash for a burner right now( to back stuff up), i personally dont see the point in starting over if the only issue is the registry. it would makes things alot easier for me just to fix what i have, until i can save for a new computer..its well overdue.

rabbitman, thanks i'll give it a shot.

2_tone, sorry, i meant repair the registry, remove invalid links, etc..

thanks for the help people.

ya well ive just ran ccleaner, already a huge differnece. i used to run spy sweeper, but the trial ran out. i now use spybot, ad-aware, and an online virus checker.
i had 165 registry errors. how did you get it to remove 85 megs of crap?
i just thought abou ti too, maybe my comp runs like a honda with no vtec(slow LOL) becuase the hard drive is almost full. i just finshed defragging it.

thanks agin for the scoop on those programs. i dont like spending money when i can get stuff for free. its not cheap its 'efficient spending' LOL

Yeah Hijackthis is the best, but it requires you to really know what you're doing. CCleaner, is hijackthis for dummies, which is why I like it. lol V8kllr, if you're looking for a full copy of Spysweeper, I just dled a full copy of it off Limewire. Doesn't expire until May 2006. Just type in Spysweeper in programs on Limewire, and try a few until you find one that works. Takes about 10 min to dl.
