They were using the Old ATi drivers, and using they were not using the ATi FEAR Fix.

Which is why it looks so bad. The only sight to do an apples to apples comparison was driverheaven. And their review showed the ATi X1800XT in the lead in a couple, and losing by less than 10 frames in a couple.

I've already had this argument a couple times.

Oh I thought it was already the revamped card from Nvidia brought out to fight the ATI X1800 series... amazing what drivers can do for a card!

It is, the X1800XT has an open source memory controller, they can literally alter anything they want with a simple driver release.

3 Days after the X1800XT was released NV released this 512GTX with 1.1ns ram, 1800MHZ memory clocks etc etc... we were expecting something way more powerful than what they produced, it barely edgest the X1800XT in some programs, and in other programs, the X1800XT smashes it. ... so it's really not worth the $900CDN.

But... I think for my new PC I'm gonna go with that 6800GS card you were talking about... for performance/price you can't beat it! Plus from what I've seen/read it pretty much keeps up with the 6800GT and edges out most of the time the X800 series of cards...

No SLI or Crossfire for me just yet... I like gaming, but I won't drop $400+ on just a video card...

Plus, I like to play around with Linux, and Nvidia's nix drivers are just better then ATI's.

^I have an X850XT Platinum you can have for $300 with Aftermarket ATi Silencer. It's over $400 + tax. But it's AGP.

It's not even a week old. And will beat the 6800GS handly. Not to mention with the aftermarket cooling it will OC to the moon.

Yea... I'm sure the XT will take out the 6800GS no problem... but again, as u said it's AGP... the new board will be PCI-e, and I sort of have my heart set on the LanParty board for a while now...
